The 2026 Toyota RAV4 lineup is wider than ever, with so-called “core” models forming the backbone of the bestselling compact SUV’s family, and a new Woodland off-road trim joining an equally new GR Sport trim level on the fringes. While there are other “sport” themed RAV4s available, namely an XSE model, the zestiest of the bunch is that GR Sport. It combines the new RAV4’s most powerful powertrain—a 320-hp plug-in hybrid setup—with a lowered suspension, sticky summer tires, and heavily bolstered seats.
Toyota says the GR Sport’s sharp styling was designed with help from the company’s Gazoo Racing engineering arm, and it features a unique front bumper with a large grille framed by bulky side vents. There’s also a chin spoiler along the bottom edge of the front fascia and gloss-black wheel-arch trim. The special black 20-inch wheels spin in front of red brake calipers, while a sizable rear wing protrudes from the roof. The GR Sport is also the only RAV4 that will give shoppers the choice to pair Supersonic Red paint with a black roof.
The GR sport’s interior receives perforated Ultrasuede seats, trimmed with Toyota’s SofTex material and jazzed up with some colorful accents. There’ll also be some “GR” logos added to the front head rests and steering while, plus paddle shifters on the steering wheel and some aluminum pedals.
All models now get a 12.3-inch digital gauge cluster. The central infotainment? Starts at 10.5 inches, but higher trims get a 12.9-inch touchscreen. Response and layout are handled by Toyota’s new Arene software, which should help it keep pace with rivals in UX and update cycles.
The 2026 Toyota RAV4 GR Sport boasts a 320-hp plug-in hybrid powertrain, combining features from past powerful RAV4s like the V-6 third-gen and Tesla-powered EV. It includes a lowered suspension, summer tires, and sporty design elements, aiming to be the quickest RAV4 yet.
The 2026 RAV4, including the GR Sport, will reach dealerships later this year. Pricing won’t be announced until closer to the RAV4’s on-sale date, but the outgoing SE PHEV started at $45,660 and the XSE PHEV started at $49,530, so we expect the new GR Sport model to start at around $51K.
